Drag rabbits!
Lower and slightly wider than traditional rabbit ear bars. The center detail will have no visible welds other than the welds connecting the two sides. The welds for the step down were all done inside the tube. Supah clean!
shovel motor progress...o-ring intake clamp expert opinion needed
with the help of my pops i got the all the cylinder base nuts torqued down on the shovelhead. i used plated grade 8 nuts and lockwashers to mimic the brass accent i've got going on the rest of the motor.
i also put on the intake manifold for the s&s super e i'll be running, and i used the brass o-ring style intake clamps that i got from mike at old-stf. now i'm hoping someone can tell me from looking at the pic below if i installed the intake and clamps correctly. there is a gap between the outer ridge of intake port and the edge of the o-ring clamp on either side. it seems secure and solid, but that gap has me paranoid. who's got an expert opinion that can shed some light? also, i've been told that if the o-ring clamps are setup properly that there's no need for a carb support, but i don't trust it with all that shovelhead vibration. any experts want to weigh in on that issue as well?
this pic is the top view looking down:
and last but not least, if the intake manifold is on, why not go ahead and mount the carb as well? with the 1" yost spacer block, the teardrop sticks out a bit further than you normally see...especially with the craze of everybody building anorexic skinny bikes these days. anybody got a 1/2" yost spacer block they'd like to trade for my 1"er?

original casting by TommyShock
specializing in the original castings, operating out of portland, oregon, tommy shock is making some very high quality pieces. tail lights, points covers, shifter knobs, pegs, and more...this guy is cranking out a lot of creative original work with a very high standard of quality. tommy's craftsmanship is very impressive!
i realize i made it look like all tommy's work is skulls and death's heads, but he actually does quite a variety of stuff. check out Tommy's website or his classified's on chopcult for more examples or to get ahold of some of his work.

Lectron carb
Adam from Prescott, WI, sent me these pics of the Lectron carb he is getting rid of. For a carb geek like me, this thing is a beautiful piece of mechanical craftsmanship. If you're into the technical explanations of why these carbs are highly sought after in the drag bike world, check the Lectron Carb website.

Mike D's flashy digger...and a souped up Super B from Brian of Speed Club Inc.
here's another submission from mike d, aka fatass, of the bitchin digger he did awhile back. i don't even like diggers most of the time, and don't get me started on the kook that built the 'pink taco' digger that was all over the chopper media, but this hot little number from mike d is one digger i can really dig! from the awesome prism tank, to the perfect frontend springer / invader combo, laid forward z bars, understated proportional upswept slashed exhaust, and the elusive street ready digger stance that is too often overdone (and really makes or breaks a bike in that style, for my personal taste), this is one well executed '70's digger! too bad he sold it a few years ago...i really hope the current owner is riding the rubber off it every damn day!
and...from the very rad Speed Club Inc. dudes, specifically brian, in good ol st. paul, comes this sexy little carb combo. for about what some fools are trying to charge just for a new s&s teardrop air cleaner (pricks), brian shipped me this souped up Super B complete with teardrop and superbowl AND thunderjet already installed! a quick blast of carb cleaner and toothbrush and this thing is one beautiful piece of chopper performance that's ready for both show AND go! as my shovel comes together, i'll see which i like better: this Super-Duper B, or the voodoo Super E i've got...or maybe some cash will fall from the sky so i can afford to send the super e off to xxx carburetors for the full davinci treatment. can't go wrong with any of those options, really.

votes are unanimous and the plan is coming together
that was very cool! i asked for everybody to read and respond to the message about voting and everybody did exactly that in under 24 hours, thanks guys! thank you also for unanimously agreeing on the president vote. it's a lot better to know everyone's in agreement than to have a few that strongly disagree and end up getting outvoted. i promise to do everything i can to keep this little thing we got going enjoyable, positive, and productive for everyone involved.
as for the questions about the meet this summer, i've decided to nail down the dates and place for the main base camp now so people can begin doing whatever planning and preparation they need to do to make sure they can make it. i have a buddy who has offered the use of his place to set up camp on. i am open to the possibility of relocating the base camp halfway through the meet so we can explore even more area for riding and destinations for runs. i have planned for a weeklong meet, for a couple reasons. i personally want to have a good long chunk of time to hangout, go riding, and unwind from the annoyances of the daily grind; also, if anyone's schedule prevents them from making it on a given day, the week long window should ensure that everyone will be able to come and hangout for at least a couple days within that week. the details i have set so far are below, but i also want to ask you guys to try brainstorming some sort of name we can use for what i hope become an annual event...i'm getting tired of referring to 'the meet' or 'the get together'. it doesn't have to be fancy or hip or whatever, just a solid name for the event.
PLANS AS OF 25 JANUARY:
-WE WILL MEET FROM 17 JUNE THROUGH 24 JUNE, 2012.
-OUR BASE CAMP WILL BE IN THE HAYWARD, WISCONSIN, AREA.
-THE PRIMARY SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS WILL BE CAMPING, WITH EVERYONE BRINGING THEIR OWN CAMPING GEAR. DON'T OVER PACK, BUT BE PREPARED TO SLEEP OUTDOORS.
-WE WILL TAKE DAILY RIDES FROM THE BASE CAMP, WITH A COUPLE RUNS POSSIBLY LASTING OVERNIGHT. RIDERS ARE FREE TO CHOOSE WHICH RIDES THEY WANT TO GO ON, OR PLAN THEIR OWN RIDES IF DESIRED.
-THERE WILL BE SOME SPOUSES AND GIRLFRIENDS IN ATTENDANCE. NO ONE IS EXPECTING A PG-RATED GIRL SCOUT CAMPOUT, BUT BASIC RESPECT WILL BE SHOWN AT ALL TIMES. USE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT AND COMMON SENSE...OTHER THAN THAT, GO CRAZY, I KNOW I WILL!
i have some ideas for run destinations, but i encourage anyone who's interested to check a map and do some research and come up with runs they'd like to do, too. some of my ideas so far include: madeline island, grand marais, ely, eagle river, possible overnighter to the motorcycle history museum in anamosa, and a possible overnighter to the northernmost tip of michigan's upper peninsula. what would you guys like to see?
as far as a name for these shenanigans, i don't know that i've found a winner yet. maybe these will at least get somebody else in the braistorm mode to think up a better name. here are my ideas so far: zen family reunion, bastards' summer vacation, the great escape, thunder dome, gathering of the bastards, the running of the bastards, and week of the freaks. i know, not great, but somebody out there has a better idea...i just know it.

Show You Guys my Pet Cock
You freakin sickos!!! I bet you were looking for it weren't you?
Actually I found a pair of fuel petcocks that fit in between the small tank to rocker cover space I have on the BSA. I hope they don't leak.... I also hope that I don't have a bad hangover, I switched from beer ro Honey Mead

BEER REVIEW!
I Love seeing titties like the beautiful lady below, but.... I also like looking at titties while drinking a beer.
We have all tried Guinness Stout I'm sure, but have we had Guinness Foreign Extra?!!
"Foriegn Extra Stout is brewed with generous hops and roasted barley for a bittersweet balance and full-flavored natural bite. Developed for global export from Ireland, the addition of the extra hops ensured that this stout would arrive in perfect condition. Today it is enjoyed by millions around the world"

The head and lacing are a light brown color opposed to the creamy white we usually see our Guinness here in the states. There is a bit more hoppiness to it, but not much. I thought I would be able to taste more of it. What I can feel however is a more beer carbonation, not the tiny micro bubbles we have here in our pint "o" guiny, but an actual "beer bubble" you can see in my glass the difference, Look at how large the "lacing" is on the side!
I'm a fan of American brewed Guinness, but this is at a different level... It really is fantastic. It sits on the tongue a bit longer, and actually is a wee bit more bitter, but it is great!!! I'm screwed though because this is running almost 2x the price here locally.
Bearpaws you part native firewater imbiber....
so....
who is,and who is NOT going to the meet?
there is like 6 months to plan to go.
2nd: i thought the meet was going to be on the IL/IN border? it's in WI now???

Taco Tuesday
Im gonna start doing a Taco Tuesday. Just something completly random of my choosing. It may be a sexy nekid woman, two dogs humping, a picture of a paper clip, some video of a maricachi band, two nuns barfing into each others vaginas,.....you never know. Its gonna be so random, it may not even be on a Tuesday.
you are warned!
you are warned!
English Biker Guy
Here's a fucking cool ass bike that I saw in Camden Town, London. It's loud as fuck and flashy so he was pretty hard to miss. I actually saw this dude twice...once in Camden, which is a fucked up place by the way, and once sort of by Big Ben/Parliament on the River Thames on Bonfire Night... Which is just pretty much the English fourth of July/ crazy party let's all gather in a massive park and light off fireworks cops don't give a fuck day. Yeah it was fucking awesome.
Trying to bring performance out of my 01 sporty on a budget. . Anybody got any ideas or knowledge on the subject would appreciate it. Right now its sitting in the garage with the carb tore off and a lonely S&S intake hanging on. Waiting on my throttle cables to arrive so i can finish the job. I also have yet to complete my exhaust project. I don't have a tig to weld the stainless and and also have never ran a tig before and would be pretty bummed if i fuck up the welds. May take it down to the local welder for finishing but would also like to say i did it myself ( i'm sure you all would agree with me on that). Once thats all done i'm planning on changing out the rear fender and relocating the lights and lic. plate. Would love a spoked out rear 16. . but like i said before money is tighter than virgin pussy so gotta keep dreamin for now.
some more friends of zen
this is mike d. some may know him as taint or fatass, and he's a pretty rad guy in his own right. his little ironhead digger chop is stylish & ratty as a punk rock flophouse...and it looks to be all business when it comes to the road! his blog, a dumbass with a motorcycle, is pretty cool and down to earth, check it out in the blog-o-rama to the right.->->->
ooops! correction: mike just informed me that the guy in the pic is his buddy LTB. LTB and that ironchead chopper are 'forever united'. look for a post of a more flashy digger he did coming soon.
here's some news from our friends in brazil, too...
lucas is back with some pics of his new baby, a beautiful yellow shovelhead flh. she's headed for the chopping block from what i hear, but doesn't she look pretty in her stock outfit, too? leo has been hard at work with his art, and it's lookin crazy good in my opinion. you can check out their blog, circumano, in the blog-o-rama, as well.->->->
unfortunately, unless you know portuguese or use an online translator it's just gonna be a lot of cool pictures...they are from brazil after all.

Whats up? Sorry its been a while since Ive posted. If it makes anyone feel better, I haven't kept up with my own blog or facebook either. Just been busy trying to get work. I hit a real long dry spell so I went into a bit of a panic mode. Anyway, I scored some orders and back rolling. I picked up a new tubing roller today. So now I have even MORE options for handebar building and basically any other work that needs tubing.
